Some Notes...

I've just got the flu twice in two weeks. Just when I thought I was recovering, I get it again. Worse even. Very annoying. Heh.

And here's some good news...my parents are together again. Let's hope it stays that way. Anyway...

Here's the hottest thing to happen in biblical "scholarship" since the DaVinci Code...it's the Lost Tomb of Jesus! Apparently James Cameron (Titanic, Terminator) will be directing this documentary with a team of scholars. Hmm, this is going to be good. It seems all they can come out today is: Jesus got married. Has kids. Etc. etc.

So, not much new, except Cameron apparently presents us with their tombs itself? Oh?

Anyway, Witherington weighs in. Read the comments too. Quite interesting.

My review on Final Fantasy X, by the way, is coming out soon. I'm playing Xenosaga Ep. 1 right now (great game) and I'll probably be reviewing that too after I'm done.

Until then, see ya!

Good things come in small soundbites...

So here's one random post of the day. Or maybe it's a cheap way to get a few jollies. Anyway...

Referencing this article, apparently a show on TV got banned due to some remarks made towards Prophet Muhammad's wife.

Eheh. Which one?

(Sorry couldn't resist.)

Oh yeah, I've uploaded a new clip onto Youtube. Check it out. Yet another piece of randomness, I think.

Pre-March Reflections.

Let's see. Well, I learned a lot can happen in just the frame of a few days.

My parents have separated, for one thing. (Note: Not divorced.) Not a big surprise for me, though. Been expecting it for a while. And I trust that those who do know me and are reading this would be discreet in their handling of this info. And prayers would be appreciated. Thanks!

Oh yeah...and I went to Fraser's Hill for the Chinese New Year holidays. I personally see it as a redundant vacation. We've been there...what? 4 times already in two years? Sheesh...it's getting annoying. And boring.

But thanks to our PS2 (which we lugged all the way there, along with our own TV!), I wasn't that bored at all. Oh, and I managed to finish Final Fantasy X (Of course, expect a review soon.) there. Yeah, so it wasn't all such a waste, was it?

And yes, the money I gleaned from those little red packets might not be a lot this year, but it certainly is more than enough. I've already gotten some books (Anna Karenina for instance, which I find to be a rather ironic read in my present circumstances). And lots of video games. Trying to find Rogue Galaxy. But all those stores still don't have it!

Until then. Goodbye!

Saturdays are okay days.

I'm much happier now. Having the liberty of being all alone at home, I surely enough when into a marathon Final Fantasy session. Four hours. Woohoo.

Now my eyes hurt. And yes, I'm typing this.

Well uh..let me see. Movie...yeah ok, I've been rather lazy in getting out to film the last scene of my rather short movie. But, no worries. Tomorrow, on the Sabbath, I should be able to complete it. Or on Monday. Or Tuesday. Or, I procrastinate. Hehe.

Yeah. I dunno why I feel so good.

Oh yeah, I'm writing stories now. I'm finally beginning to go into fiction once more. See the two short, short stories I posted on my other blog here. And, I'm working on a much longer one. Should be done by the end of the month. If I keep at it. Wish me luck.

Pan's Labyrinth

Let it be said, you're going to be slightly cliched if you position yourself as a fairytale movie. And even more cliched if you position yourself in WWII times. Pan's Labyrinth is both, and still manages to be superbly original and stirring.

It's quite easy to apply a lot of positive adjectives here, but of course, just think of all of them. But Labyrinth is no happy movie (as most fairy tales are), and be sure to expect a violent, bleak film with brief interludes in the fantasy realm (which is no less harsh).

What is most striking is Del Toro's (the director) putting both fantasy and reality together: the brutal fascist regime in Spain and the magical world in which the protagonist, Ofelia, goes to, which is somewhat equally terrifying. And she is the only connection between the real world and the other world; no other people except her may see the creatures from that realm.

Which makes one wonder whether she is just dreaming or living it. But in the end, everything becomes clear.

In almost all aspects, this film is amazing and certainly emotionally powerful. And despite being a hopelessly sad movie, it is still a fairy tale, and so, as we see, ends like one.

Thank God for small mercies.

Ah, the relief. College is over. And I think I did okay enough on the exam (there must always be an exam before we're set free).

Yes, freedom! Ah! Well, does playing the PS2 all day from this day onward count as an "abuse" of it? I think not. Hehehe.

One thing I won't do, however, is wake up late. I'm too used to getting up early. Heh...how strange is that? Well, the upside is you get a few extra hours out of your day. A life less wasted, IMO.

Oh, of course I'm not going to waste my holiday. There's too much to do. Learning. Yup, my symbolic logic book which has yet to be started. Lectures I downloaded but got no time to complete.

Yes, it's going to be a very fun month of no-college.

And I'm happy.

Lessons in Movie-Making...

Actors who procrastinate (and directors) seriously put a dent into your production.

Well, the short (short) movie I was suppose to make has already taken nearly 4 months. Oh well.

The process isn't that nice either. Actors do get frustrated. And entires scenes re-shot. That's not nice. I think my digital camera is wearying out. I WANT A HD CAMCORDER!

Yeah.
