O Muse, where art thou?

Gah, I have stalled once again at my efforts at something called a "novel". Perhaps 50,000 words is a bit too much. Then I trimmed it down to "novella", but alas, I am still stuck with a thousand words or so (something of an invisible barrier for me). Looks like the only stuff I've written only falls in the short story category. Me wants to break out.
